Fabulous Five - Ideas for a 5-day Itinerary

August 20, 2010

Emerald Desert RV Resort’s five-day itinerary will inspire, educate and thrill you.

Have you ever pulled your rig into your prime spot at an RV resort, gotten settled, and then wondered what to do next? That’s not a problem for guests at Emerald Desert RV Resort. In fact, the hospitable and knowledgeable staff at the Palm Desert, California, resort has it all scoped out for you. Immerse yourself in five jam-packed days of activities or spread them out to make the joy last longer. You’ll want to save some time to spend exploring all that the resort has to offer onsite, too.

Day One will introduce you to local arts and entertainment.

  • Learn about all styles of art by visiting the Palm Springs Art Museum or La Quinta Museum. Take home pieces of local art by shopping at one of the many art walks.
  • Grab a map and explore buildings designed by architects like Albert Frey, William Krisel and Walter White in the mid-century modern style. Make it even more exciting by touring on a Segway—the perfect vehicle for getting around Palm Desert.
  • If you love performance art, then head to the Palm Springs Fabulous Follies, a Broadway-caliber production. The Show at Agua Caliente Casino hosts artists such as Billy Idol, Huey Lewis, Celtic Woman, and the Beach Boys.

Of course, you don’t have to leave the gates of this luxury resort, but if you want to, then Day Two presents you with outdoor adventures.

  • For real adventure, use your own or rent an ATV and soar along the nearby sand dunes.
  • Take a trail ride on horseback through majestic canyons.
  • Go high—8,516 feet high—on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway aboard the world’s largest rotating tramcar. Pack a picnic and stay awhile learning about the earliest inhabitants, the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Indians.
  • Take an off-road adventure (or secure a tour guide) exploring spectacular Joshua Tree National Park and stand on the San Andreas Fault, which bounds the south side of the park.

If you’ve brought your family along, or if you are a child at heart, then Day Three is planned for you.

  • Pick your transportation: View the beautiful San Jacinto-Mountains while soaring in a helicopter or hot air balloon. Or take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the village of Palm Springs.
  • Tour the Palm Springs Air Museum, view a collection of World War II aircraft and memorabilia or learn to fly in a flight simulator plane.
  • Learn more about the desert wildlife and flowers while walking through the Living Desert, a 1,200-acre wildlife and botanical park.
  • Browse 100s of boutique vendors at the Palm Desert COD Street fair on Saturdays and Sundays. On Thursday evenings, drop by Village Fest featuring hundreds of exhibitors and entertainment.

Fun, sun, and relaxation are three words that should be in your vocabulary by now and Day Four will give you that and more.

  • Break out your clubs and enjoy Emerald Desert’s Monday Golf scramble or schedule a morning round of golf at Woodhaven Country Club.
  • Treat yourself while enjoying a massage or a spa treatment at one of the many spas in the region.
  • Bring along your favorite book and soak up the sun while relaxing by Emerald Desert’s main pool.
  • Dine alfresco after exploring Old Town in La Quinta. Shop the many retro boutiques and art galleries.

The region has always been a Mecca for stars and you can feel like one on Day Five of your Emerald Desert RV Resort itinerary.

  • Be treated like a celebrity on Saturday mornings while enjoying a delightful Emerald breakfast served in the Main Clubhouse.
  • Discover the exclusive estates of Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, or Elvis Presley by taking a celebrity tour.
  • Follow the Walk of Stars through downtown Palm Springs, featuring more than 300 celebrities’ stars.
  • Catch sight of a celebrity at one of the seven film festivals annually held in Palm Springs.

You may decide to never step foot outside the resort and we can’t blame you. Onsite are many substantial amenities and services, including an indoor and outdoor spa; poolside refreshments; a driving range and two putting greens; a luxurious clubhouse and ballroom, which can be divided into smaller meeting halls for conferences and private parties.

The newly renovated clubhouse will convince you that staying at Emerald Desert RV Resort is as fine as any five-star hotel. Step into the 1,200-square-foot lobby, which features a floor mosaic comprised of tumbled marble, two shades of travertine and Vitoria Regia granite. A custom-designed reception desk incorporates Sepelle wood veneer with a rich walnut finish and inlaid marble. Other furnishings include bronze-finished light scones, Raphia upholstered wall panels, and rich-toned rattan seating groups.

Couch potatoes are always welcome, but the staff at Emerald Desert RV Resort is doing everything it can to make sure you won’t leave that way. At least one of these amenities will appeal to your inner athlete.

  • Golf Putting Green
  • Bocci Ball Lawn
  • Sparkling Pools in Beautifully Landscaped Settings
  • Indoor & Outdoor Spas
  • Golf Clinics (Seasonal)
  • Lighted Tennis Courts and Weekly Tennis Clinics (Seasonal)
  • State-of-the-art Fitness Center

Social butterflies will love the barbecue areas for outdoor entertaining as well as frequent game nights and special events in the multi-million dollar clubhouse, with ballroom dancing, card games, billiards, commercial gourmet kitchen, and library.

Since you’re probably not going to live full time at Emerald Desert RV Resort—although you may want to—to make sure you rig is well cared for when you’re back home, rent one of the resort’s indoor RV storage units. It’s easy to drive your precious home on wheels through the 12X14-foot doors into the insulated storage space. Interiors are 16 feet wide and are as long as 45 feet, so there’s plenty of room to move around or access compartments. And while you’re away, your rig will be safe because the units are protected by fire suppression systems and the area is gated and fenced. Conveniently located nearby is the RV wash rack and dump stations.

You have plenty of options when you visit Emerald Desert RV Resort. In addition to all of the activities on and off site, you can also choose to stay in a luxury condo rather than your motorcoach. Choose from five styles of two-bedroom luxury condos that are between 1,600 and 2,100 square feet in size. Standard features include vaulted ceilings, recessed lightings, wet bar, gourmet kitchen, skylights, and patio, surrounded by lush landscaping. But you don’t have to take our word for it, take a look for yourself. Go to www.emeralddesert.com/condo-home-rentals, choose the condo of your choice and take a virtual tour.
