Find Out Why Palm Desert and Palm Springs are Hollywood’s Playground

Long-known as the perfect celebrity hideaway with 350 days of annual sunshine, it is the ideal place for a wonderful vacation. With that said, the desert offers a large array of live entertainment offerings to suit almost any taste!

DAY ONE: Experience Our Celebrity Culture!
Arrive at your desert oasis Emerald Desert RV Resort. Then after you have had a chance to freshen up, relax, and enjoy the surroundings join Celebrity Tours of Palm Springs for a half-day tour of the main streets and sites of the Desert. This professionally guided and narrated picks up at the Resort or Downtown Palm Springs. Via the comforts of first-class coaches, you will see the homes of Frank Sinatra, Liberace, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, and Bob Hope, to name only a few. Learn more about how the Desert became the playground of the rich and famous and hear some of the deliciously scandalous details of some of the most notorious affairs that are legendary in this fabulous desert hideaway. (Allow 2.5 hours)
After your Celebrity Tour stroll down beautiful Palm Canyon Drive and see if you can find your favorite celebrity’s star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame. For lunch choose from many of the restaurants the Desert is so famous for.

If your visit happens to be on a Thursday (except Thanksgiving Day), Palm Canyon Drive is transformed into VillageFest a lively street fair between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Local artisans set up booths to sell their creations, and guests can enjoy live entertainment, dinner and a farmer’s market featuring locally grown produce. Don’t forget to try our wonderful dates, from the Valley’s number one crop.

DAY TWO: Relax & Rejuvenate Like a Star
Don’t forget to check out the activities schedules so as not to miss anything at the Resort.

This morning choose to relax by the pool or perhaps schedule a Swedish massage to treat sore muscles or simply melt away the stress in the expert hands of Healing Hands Massage Therapy here on property. OR for those spa enthusiasts head off to the City of Desert Hot Springs which is especially famous for the hot, healing mineral waters that flow from the plentiful aquifers that run throughout the alluvial fan on which it was built. Most of Desert Hot Springs’ spa facilities are fed directly from this magical water source, which filter and cool the 140 degree waters to a more comfortable 90+ degrees.

Following your relaxing morning enjoy lunch al fresco and take some time to stroll through the marvelous Palm Springs Art Museum, the Desert’s premier institution for art celebrating the great Southwest. The museum has an ever changing array of exhibits and educational programs. (Allow 2 hours)

Other Valley museums you may wish to consider include Palm Springs Air Museum and the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, both in Palm Springs; Cabot’s Indian Pueblo Museum in Desert Hot Springs; Coachella Valley Historical Society and Museum in Indio.

Don’t forget the fabulous theatres, ask the Front Desk Staff or Activities Coordinator to check the schedule for the McCallum Theatre for the Performing Arts in Palm Desert or Indio Performing Arts Center. These venue features Broadway and Off Broadway-caliber performances and top acts from around the United States year-round!

DAY THREE: Re-live the Days of Ziegfeld!
Enjoy breakfast at your site and the morning just soaking up some of the warm desert sun by the pool.
For lunch head to Palm Springs and enjoy rustic home-style Italian cooking at Kalura Trattortia Italiana. After lunch it is time to celebrate the music, dance and comedy of the ’30s and ’40s, with a cast old enough to have lived it! The real fun is waiting at the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies at the historic Plaza Theatre. This razzle-dazzle song and dance extravaganza is presented in the style of the old Ziegfeld Follies. Each season features a special guest headliner. (Allow 3.5 hours)

For dinner enjoy one of the Resorts event nights with a delicious caterer dinner and entertainment or head out to any one of the tantalizing restaurants throughout our eight desert cities to enjoy one of many other fabulous dining experiences. See the Front Office Staff for suggestions or attend the Resorts Friday Happy Hour where we discuss area attractions, restaurants and shopping. Afterward, you might want to have a nightcap or try your luck at one of the area’s casinos!

DAY FOUR:
Visit Goody’s around the corner for a take out breakfast so that you can sit at the pool and enjoy your coffee with a view.

Then enjoy the thrill of watching world-class polo games at one of the most beautiful polo clubs in the world. Established in 1987, Empire Polo Club has been an intricate part of polo history here in the California desert. This year, Empire Polo Club has put together a fun polo season filled with competitive polo tournaments, parties and many opportunities to be star struck. Games are open to the public and spectators are invited to attend matches throughout the season.
In the early evening, when your taste buds begin to tingle, consider dinner at a local favorites, such as Copley’s on Palm Canyon, located in the former Cary Grant Estate in Palm Springs or Spencer’s Restaurant at the Mountain. After your meal, take an evening stroll and enjoy the shops, galleries, and live music along world famous Palm Canyon Drive.

DAY FIVE:
This morning after breakfast you will have some free time to enjoy the pool at the Resort before your 11am departure.
