Relax, Golf, or Hike, and Say “Spaaaahhhh …”
Rest and relaxation is the Number One reason visitors come to the Coachella Valley, but we know you’ll find plenty of other ways to decompress and rejuvenate! If simply lounging poolside under the palms with a cool beverage is your style, you won’t be disappointed! But don’t forget to see the great outdoors, hike in our historic canyons by daylight or moonlight, play a round of golf, or rediscover your inner beauty and health with a fabulous spa treatment!
DAY ONE: Say “Spaaaahhhh…”
Arrive at your desert oasis Emerald Desert RV Resort. Then after you have had a chance to freshen up, relax, enjoy the surroundings and review the Resort activities calendar. Schedule a Swedish massage to treat sore muscles or simply melt away the stress in the expert hands of Healing Hands Massage Therapy here on property.
But remember that feeling good, rejuvenating and renewing means much more than a deep-tissue or Swedish massage. Yes, massages are still in, as are other basic spa services such as manicures and pedicures, facials and those sundry services that rely on a good steaming and soaking, but today’s spa menus feature more adventurous and alluring treatments including hot stone therapy, aromatic body scrubs and seaweed wraps, herbal infused thermal baths, exfoliating elixirs and high colonics. For the spa enthusiasts head off to the City of Desert Hot Springs famous for the hot, healing mineral waters that flow from the plentiful aquifers that run throughout the alluvial fan on which it was built. Most of Desert Hot Springs’ spa facilities are fed directly from this magical water source, which filter and cool the 140 degree waters to a more comfortable 90+ degrees.
Excellent spas are found throughout the Coachella Valley so ask the Front Office Clerks or Activities Coordinator for recommendations.
Spend the evening exploring the Resort and then enjoy one of the Resorts event nights with a delicious catered dinner and entertainment or head out to any one of the tantalizing restaurants throughout our eight desert cities to enjoy one of many other fabulous dining experiences. See the Front Office Staff for suggestions or attend the Resorts Friday Happy Hour where we discuss area attractions, restaurants and shopping.
DAY TWO: Get Some Sun On Your Shoulders!
Early morning sunrise at your site or villa patio with a leisurely breakfast in your rig or a Desert area restaurant.
Following breakfast get out your hiking boots as you head for a guided nature walk through Joshua Tree National Park with Joshua Tree Hiking Adventures. This awe-inspiring park covers more than 1,240 square miles of the Mojave and lower Colorado deserts. The expert guide explains the history of this area, including the Native American lore and ancient geology of this world-famous place. You will see 1.5 billion year-old rock walls thrust up by the San Andreas Fault. This wildlife sanctuary is home to coyotes, eagles, and Big Horn sheep. What a delightful place to enjoy your picnic lunch. (Allow half to full day).
If you happen to find the time, excellent hiking trails are also found in the hills above Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Springs. Whatever you seek – from moderate to strenuous – hiking options are plentiful, offering great exercise and incredible views of the Desert floor below.
In the evening head to El Paseo in Palm Desert. Regarded as the Rodeo Drive of the Desert, this is a fantastic shopping experience with stores such as Tiffany’s, Coach, Anne Klein and more. After your day in the great outdoors treat yourself to a delectable meal at one of the fine dining establishments you will find along El Paseo.
DAY THREE: Relax, Golf, or Hike a Great Monument
Start the day with a walk around the grounds of the resort. Fine tune you’re putting game on our 150 feet of putting surface or try your hand at pickle ball fun for all ages. Be adventurous and try something new.
Of if you feel like hitting the links, you may want to experience one of our breathtaking golf courses that lure duffers the world over. The Coachella Valley is home to 115 fabulous public and private golf courses, with available tee-times throughout every day of the year. Speak to the Front Office Clerks or Activities Coordinator about arranging a round!
Golf not your thing? Then head to the Santa Rosa and Mount San Jacinto National Monument above the Desert. This wilderness area is destined to become a National Park. Arrive via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway in the world’s largest rotating tram cars, enjoying 360 degrees of WOW along the way. The two Swiss-built cabins carry you up rugged Chino Canyon from the 2,643 foot Valley Station to the 8,516 foot Mountain Station at the threshold of the Santa Rosa and Mount San Jacinto National Monument.
During the 10-minute ride you will pass through five different geologic life zones, beginning in the Sonoran and ending in the Artic Fringe. At the top, the flora and fauna have changed and the temperature is some 40 degrees cooler. There are also two restaurants great for lunch or dinner, a cocktail lounge, gift shop and a natural history museum. In Long Valley, a short walk from the station is an Adventure Center with cross-country skiing, inner tubing, and other snow-related activities can be enjoyed (Jan – April), plus a permanent California State Park Ranger Station. While on the mountain, be sure to enjoy the short film that tells the story of this remarkable engineering feat. (Allow 2 hours)
In the late afternoon, when your taste buds begin to tingle, consider a pre-arranged cooking demonstration followed by dinner at a local restaurant, such as Copley’s on Palm Canyon, located in the former Cary Grant Estate in Palm Springs. After your meal, take an evening stroll and enjoy the shops, galleries, and live music along world famous Palm Canyon Drive. (Allow 3 hours)
DAY FOUR: Bike Your Way to Health
This morning head out with Big Wheel Tours for a guided two-wheel excursion of some of the area’s natural beauty. Bikes, helmets, refreshments, and full-support chase vehicles are included. (Allow 3 hours)
After your invigorating ride return to the Resort for yet another spa treatment and spend the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the facilities. Now that you are completely relaxed, treat yourself to a wonderful farewell dinner at The River at Rancho Mirage, one of the Desert’s newest outdoor entertainment complexes. With a wide variety of unique shops and fabulous restaurants, The River is a wonderful way to unwind before you head out to the open desert for a stellar and guided tour of the heavens above. Sky Watcher provides high-powered telescopes and sky binoculars revealing the grandeur of the universe, providing a closer look at stellar objects, star clusters, planets, galaxies and the moon! This unique concept of astronomy combined with mythology and storytelling is an unforgettable learning experience. (Allow 1.5 hours)
Day Five:
This morning after breakfast enjoy the Resort Fitness Center, 2 pools and 3 spas before your 11am departure.
